While surfing the web this afternoon, I came across a company that sold used pseries servers for an awesome price. I would never be able to afford a new server, but the used servers are much more affordable. I never knew that companies like that existed, where they refurbish old servers and make them almost new again.

Now, my boss had bought a used iseries server for the office about two years ago, and had so much trouble with it. We had repair men in there all the time because it went down at least twice a month. I know that the used iseries he bought though was not refurbished. He had purchased it from a company that went out of business and sold everything they had.

When I informed him of my discovery of the used pseries servers that had been refurbished, and came with a guarantee, he asked me to look into what it would cost for us to get one and replace the old server we had.

We purchased and had installed a used pseries server for half of the cost that my boss had paid for the used iseries that had been installed two years prior. We have not had to have the server fixed since it went in. It seems to be very reliable.
